Escaping Moonlight: Volvo 850

Escaping Moonlight: Volvo 850 illustration made in Affinity Designer for iPad. I hope you like the final results as much as I do! Really enjoyed this one.

I didn't really know where it was going at first, as you could see from the sketches/progress I've shared. Just tried to learn as much as I could from Chris Rathbone's tutorial from the Affinity Lockdown sessions.

After thinking for a while and being afraid of messing the work done so far up, I took the leap and went in a VERY different direction from where I usually go. Originally the ball in the back was supposed to be the sun, but then it occurred to me that it could also be an ominous moon 😁

The sense of speed given by the in-frame one point perspective that guides the whole drawing sells the idea, I think. I used this to train my drawing skills (as I usually do a LOT of tracing). It's far from perfect (you can imagine only I can see) but I found it very rewarding 🤩
